Spring Fever – A Quick Blurb

It’s March, which means that the days are  warm and sunny now, and often the sky is painted a bright shade of blue…

For those of you stuck in a classroom several days a week, this can spell trouble.

For those such as myself, stuck inside an office for 7-8 hours, this can also spell trouble.

I’m not complaining though, as we are all young adults and adults now. Long gone are the days of half hour recesses and evenings spent playing ball or riding bikes in the sunshine.

The transition to this more mature life isn’t always an easy one though. With the forecasted highs in the 80s and flip flops, sunglasses, and other warm-weather apparel coming out of hibernation, it can be hard to concentrate on our required day-to-day tasks.  Our minds can wander – spreadsheets, textbooks, and notebooks can become a blur, as the appeal of skipping class can become more and more tempting.

Resist the temptation though, and instead, try these tips and tricks to enjoy the spring weather, as well as keep ahold of your own life.

1. Get out every couple of hours – Even if you only have a 30 minute space between classes, try to step outside and breathe in the fresh air for a moment.  The same goes for us at work…Take a couple breaks during the course of the day, just to stand and peer out the door for a moment.  It isn’t the same as running around outside, but it can count for a little.

2. Stick with fresh fruits, veggies, and stay hydrated – Staying indoors can zap you of your energy, even if it is bright and sunny out…Try to stay hydrated with healthy drinks like water, and look for seasonal fruits and veggies to keep you energized during the day – watermelon, bananas, apples, and strawberries, etc.

3. Get outdoors of an evening – Whether you can get out and spend some time working in the flower bed, or if you can only step out for a few minutes towards late evening, take the opportunities given to you and take a step outside and enjoy the fresh air while you can.  Even consider taking your textbooks outside and studying outside for a change!
